Victory in Ashingdon Sock??

Nah, the Victory in Saffron Walden. Lovely building and its dedicated to Nelson's ship.
But it is utter fucking gash.

It is dog-friendly though.

Re: The Local Pub
NS I know the pubs in Rochford very well as my grandparents lived there and my Grandad actually worked in the White Horse in his retirement having been a publican for decades and running the King Harold in Harold Wood for 25 years.

We had both nan and grandads wakes in the Cherry Tree down Stanbridge Road as that was their local.

Crooked Billet in clapton, W4 son.

Adam and Eve in homerton is pretty good. It was always alright anyway so they were sympathetic to the locals when it inevitably got taken over.

The Jackdaw and Stump opposite was an absolute fucking shit hole. Now it's super poncey.

Mine's the Red House by Redbridge Roundabout, even though it's a 30 second walk from my flat I barely go there as it's shite!!!

Re: The Local Pub
Mine fucking well cool, obviously. It was a right horrible nasty shit hole about 4 years ago that those fond of the Stanley on here would have approved of. Irish landlord, local youth in tracksuits doing charlie in the bogs and old boys at deaths door.

Now it's all kids from places like buckinghamshire and surrey with rich parents having bought them their starter home. No more chav.

I know the bloke who bought the lease. Paid £70k a year for it and was shitting himself before it reopened. It turns over £20k a week now.

Re: The Local Pub
Oh it's a bit shit but we go there occasionally to eat a Big Plate Special... much prefer the other boozers in and around Rochford (which for a small time was in the Guinness Book of Records for having the most pubs in a square mile)

Re: The Local Pub
Some harvester looking carvery gaf on the river which is always packed in evenings and has just run out of whatever food you order.

Also a few small backstreet corner pubs that London used to be full of but now only really exist up north, frequented solely by the elderly and long-term jobseekers.

The Partridge, Bromley town centre.

A fine selection of ales, lagers and ciders. Always got sport on, friendly bar staff, decent food and the regulars are friendly.

Probably my favourite pub and only matched by the Colborn Arms before I moved 5 years ago.
